A soft breeze brushes against my cheek. I realize I'm cold and start to wake. The first thing I see is a sky full of clouds, slowly fading into stars with altitude. I sit up, trying to get my bearings. I notice the grass below me is soft and gentle to the touch. Not at all itchy or crawling with insects like I'd expect. Where am I?
I sand up with a sense of shock when I realize that I'm standing on a small piece of land no larger than a small bedroom. the only things around me are clouds, and an unusually large mushroom. Wait... clouds. Above and below! I'm in the sky? How is that possible?
A short wave of panic overwhelms me for a moment. How did I get here? How will I get down? I'm literally stranded in the middle of nowhere with no food or water! "Okay, deep breath." I told myself. The air felt so clean and pure through my lungs, it relaxed me significantly. First thing's first. How did I get here? I searched my memory hard for an answer. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember anything before waking up. A sting of horror grazed my spine. The sudden realization of having amnesia is a feeling I will never forget. Almost like fear, confusion and frustration all rolled into one overwhelming emotion.
Before I know it the clouds part, revealing a much larger land mass floating in the distance. And somehow, I know it's name.
Æther Isle.
An island in the sky above the clouds, drifting freely through the wind. Climate: Cold and icy. Small settlements dot the island. In the center is a massive biosphere housing strange and exotic flora and fauna. The island is held afloat by a lighter-than-air earth particle in the rock of the island's mass called aerostone. The island floats approximately 10,000 ft above the earth.
I stare in awe at the spectacular view as my mind somehow "remembers" where I am, though I thought I had no memory of being here before.
