last night I dreamed...
I am sitting in bed by a window, near a sliding glass door. I'm compelled to look at the night sky and I see a shhip hovering just outside! I try to focus my eyes on it as it glitches in and out of visibility until it reveals itself! A large white egg shaped capsule attached to a ring of engines!
It hovers for a moment before it starts flying off to my right. Then I notice the curtain over the sliding glass door. It hangs drifting in the cool night breeze over the cracked open door we keep open for our cat. I see a small paw-like hand reach in from outside. My initial thought was that it was a raccoon, cause it had thumbs.
I reach over and pull the curtain open to see a family of furry people with big eyes and bigger ears! One of them is wearing blue overalls (and I will see a few times again, just out of sight, through the rest of my dreamtime). I'd see them just out of the corner of my eye and follow them.
In later dreams this night I recalled this encounter as a dream and even retold this story to friends in the dream.
I do not remember why they arrived, but I am happy to make new friends. When I was telling others about the encounter in the dream, one asked, "and you didn't feed them?" to which I responded, "No, it didn't really cross my mind and I don't want them to eat my cat or me."
Upon waking I was compelled to look up Gremlins lore, cause the fuzzy folks reminded me of those movies which I haven't watched before. I learned that according to Pop lore, these are Mogwai, furry eye-eye like critters from another planet who transform into scaley gremlines if they eat anything past midnight.
Meep would be the Doctor Who paralell I suppose.
